I want to start by saying a huge THANK YOU! The support that I've received for Radiate Candles & Cosmetics these first 3 months has been overwhelming.
The vision for this business started in 2015. At that time, I was a freshman Chemical Engineering student. I was very fascinated with the cosmetics industry. My dream at that time was to work in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) as a Chemical Engineer (I stalked L'Oreal, P&G, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson internship listings almost daily lol). I desperately wanted to participate in making the products that I love and use everyday. I especially had an interest in cosmetics.
As the years went on, my interests broadened. I also became interested in home goods & decor (candles, furniture, curtains - you name it lol). However, I knew that I couldn't do it all.
I initially only wanted to make cosmetics, but I couldn't get candles out of my mind. I also had a strong conviction that my business needed to be Christ-centered. Let me explain: Personally, I do not believe that every Christian has to have a Christ-focused business, if that makes sense. (For example, a Christian accountant doesn't only have to have a Christian accounting firm...it can just be an accounting firm lol.) Basically, I just wanted to make consumer products as a young Christian woman, but I didn't necessarily intend for this business to be a Christian business. However, one Sunday after church, it was very clear to me that my business needed to be Christ-focused.
I later realized that there is a HUGE need for Christian brands in the beauty & home industry. Many brands that we know and love are not always 100% honest with how their products are made. Something even more concerning to me was the vision behind many of these products/brands! Side note: Please do your research on your favorite brands :)
Knowing all of this information, I became more serious about starting my business. Radiate Candles & Cosmetics is based on Psalm 34:5 which says, "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." And the whole idea is - in the presence of God, there is a radiance on us, a fragrance if you will. This fragrance is so strong that people can tell we've been with Jesus. It is my humble desire that when you burn one of our candles, the presence of God will be in your home and that the atmosphere of your home will shift closer to Jesus. And if you use our body butters, I desire that there will be a Christ-like radiance upon you!
